Sphincterochilidae is a family, within the superfamily Helicoidea, made up by one genus with five subgenera. The family has a circunmediterranean distribution, from the Southeast France to Turkey, through the West coast of the Iberian Peninsula, North Africa and the Middle East. Using the information of the DNA, we will propose a phylogeny of the genera and we will try to explain its peculiar distribution.
Due to political instability and armed conflicts in the countries of its distribution (Algeria, Libya and Syria among others), we have many problems in order to finish a full sampling for this genus, so I would really appreciate if someone could help us.
